True Art Studio

 Hi! My name is Marilyn and I am an artist and a  teacher.  I am extremely dedicated to nurturing,  positively influencing and fostering each student's innate creativity and individual expression through Art!

Upon graduating High School I was awarded a scholarship in art education by The Carroll County Arts Council and received my Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in Art Education, endorsed in Painting from SHEPHERD UNIVERSITY, graduating with honors and being awarded a senior award as, " Best Art Major"  as well as  being certified to teach grades K-12.

I received my Masters degree in painting and Art Education from , MCDANIEL COLLEGE.

Upon graduating Shepherd College, I began working in the CARROLL COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS as a full time Art Teacher for 19 years, teaching grades K - 5. 

In 2018, I began teaching Art to students age 2-5 at, THE YOUNG SCHOOL,  composing daily lessons designed around creative expression, Art history and appreciation, and perceptual experience for children.

  In 2014, I was awarded the, BLUE RIBBON, for my portrait of artist and mentor, TOM HOLDER.

Along with being part of both Solo and group gallery shows, My paintings have been on the cover of more than 10 albums, (Cd's).

In August of 2023 I opened my very own Art/teaching space,  TRUE ART STUDIO!! in Westminster, Md. I am currently accepting students of all ages, both as individuals and in small groups. Please reach out via email (contact page) with any and all questions you might have concerning lessons.

I  LOVE teaching and am able to instruct students individually or in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet student's varying needs and interests !
